The Outer Hebrides are a popular destination for cyclists, but never have the North Uist single track roads been travelled by quite so many two-wheelers at once.
In a unique ‘tour de Uist’, 122 cyclists, aged eight to 68, disembarked from the ferry at Lochmaddy to the sound of the pipes, collected their bikes from a large lorry and trailer and headed off in driving rain for a 120 mile ride down the Uists to Barra.
